Since reservoirs are the main source
of the infection returning, if you stop antiretroviral treatment, we must be able to specifically treat this dormant virus, this latent virus found in its cells. As I said, there is characterizing,
therefore measuring these reservoirs, and where precisely this virus hides, in order to have a major impact on developing new therapies, and to truly cure HIV. In particular, my group focused on developing methods that allow us to very precisely measure the cells that contain this virus capable of reactivating. What are the characteristics of these cells? These lymphocytes, these populations
come in many different flavours. The research also helps us know
which cells contain the virus. It also allows us to determine in which cells we can try to awaken the virus, in order to eliminate it.
